As a Gen Z kid, I first heard They Might be Giants on the car ride to with my best friend and her dad. Now when I go back and listen through their decades long collection of songs, I have such a deep nostalgic feeling. Those their last album Book was released in 2021, they have released an EPs since, Beast of Horns. They have been touring for 35 years and have over 20 albums, you can expect a lively and well-rounded show.
They Might be Giants spent two nights at The Brooklyn Bowl in Nashville for their The Big Show Tour. They brought out all the stops. Two nights with two sets each by an eight-piece band featuring three horns. Not to mention more dad jokes and goofy moments than I am capable of counting. I am a Brooklyn Bowl frequent flyer, I have yet to see such an electric sound fill the walls. Every moment of their discography floated through the room. The crowd fluctuated between standing in amazement and jumping and dancing to the music. When they wrapped up the first set with Istanbul (Not Constantinople), it was my turn.
Of all their years of touring, this was my first time seeing them perform. For a band that has been preforming for an unreal amount of time, They Might be Giants have yet to lose any momentum. For fans of goofy yet talented alternative rock bands, this is a must-see show.
