In the early days of 2019, I discovered a band that would soon become the soundtrack of my year. Peach Pit’s soft vocals, guitar-driven melodies, and artistic style has the perfect mixture of magnetic elements to be a standout band during the rise of indie in the mainstream. Based in Vancouver, British Columbia, these four high school friends began working on projects in 2016 with the creation of their debut EP Sweet FA. Since then, they have released four albums and are currently on their North American Fall Quest tour for their 2024 album Magpie.

On Monday night, the energy at Orlando’s House of Blues was palpable. The walls of this sold out show buzzed in anticipation as the crowd waited for Peach Pit to hit the stage. Indie singer-songwriter Miya Folick graced the stage to kick off the show and was quickly beloved by the crowd. Accompanied by only herself, a guitar, and a secondary guitarist, her stripped-back set drew in the audience, charmed by her stunning vocals and hard-hitting lyrics.

Peach Pit came out swinging, opening with an unexpected cover of “War Pigs” by Black Sabbath that seamlessly transitioned into their title-track song “Magpie”. Once they hit the stage, it nearly did not seem large enough. Throughout the set, every member had their chance to shine as they shredded across the stage, accompanied by lots and lots of headbanging. Everyone in the audience could feel the passion and excitement radiating off of them, which they gave back happily in return.

The setlist was dynamic, energy-filled, and gave the audience exactly what they craved from this band. Featuring fan-favorite hits like “Drop the Guillotine”, self-titled “Peach Pit”, my personal favorite “Alrighty Aphrodite", and finally closing the night with “Tommy’s Party”, the night felt equal parts lively and intimate. Peach Pit gave an incredible performance that showgoers will not soon forget.

Although I have been a fan for quite a few years now, this was my first time seeing this band live and I can confidently say that it will not be my last. Hearing these songs live has somehow made listening after the fact better than they were previously. If you are unfamiliar with Peach Pit, fans of Hippo Campus, Gus Dapperton, and The Backseat Lovers will definitely appreciate their indie rock sound and aesthetic.

Come see Peach Pit live before it’s too late! Their North American Fall Quest tour is continuing until October 10 where it concludes in McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania, with appearances in the 2026 festival line up. You can find the full list of tour dates and tickets on their official website, here.
