Once a Louis girl, always a Louis girl.
That’s what I learned from attending Louis Tomlinson’s How Did We Get Here? Tour. As a longtime One Direction fan and a casual listener of Tomlinson’s music, I was astounded by the emotions I was flooded with during his show Monday night in Nashville at The Pinnacle. His radiant performance brought out the little girl inside who had his face on notebooks, stickers, and plenty of J-14 magazines.
Kicking off the night was English indie rock band Picture Parlour, whose edgier sound was the perfect way to pump up the audience. Their setlist consisted of songs off their debut album, The Parlour, with standout songs being “Who’s There To Love Without You?”, “Talk About It”, and “$4 Fantasy”. Their look and sound were truly captivating, and for their first time performing in Nashville, they looked right at home on that stage. Next up were The Beaches. Anyone who has listened to any indie rock playlists has heard of this band. Playing their hits “Blame Brett”, “Last Girls At the Party”, and “Edge of the Earth,” which is featured in Amazon Prime Off Campus, their fierce and wild energy was the perfect precursor to Tomlinson’s set.
It was finally time for the man of the hour, Louis Tomlinson. After not seeing him perform live in 12 years, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but the feeling was instantaneous and magical. He started the show with his powerhouse lead single off of How Did I Get Here?, “Lemonade,” which led to cheers so loud he was nearly inaudible. As confetti flooded the room, I knew this was going to be a great show. From stripped-back ballads to funky dance tunes, there were constant "wow" moments that made the show feel fun, energetic, and special.
His raw, emotional vocals bring a uniqueness to music that is so refreshing to hear. One of my favorite parts of the night was when he performed “Night Changes,” and as someone who never got to hear that song live, experiencing it in such an intimate environment was so special.
What I, along with many people, love about Louis is that he’s so immensely grateful for his life. Acknowledging fans during and between songs, appreciating the amount of One Direction dolls that were brought, and verbally sharing his care for his fanbase throughout the show. Having an artist display that much love and attention towards the audience is not something you see often, so it’s quite a rewarding experience when you do.
Overall, the show was incredible. The setlist had the perfect mix of vulnerable, slow songs and songs that make you get out of your seat and dance. Each song was paired with stunning lighting and visuals that lured you more into the performance. And the How Did We Get Here? Tour continues! You can find him going across North America, Australia, and South America throughout 2026 and into 2027. You can find the full list of tour dates and tickets on their official website, here!
