Have you ever had one of those bands or artists that have a sound that makes you feel everything all at once every time you listen to them? Like that one guitar they seem to use every song or that one member's melodies in the background? For me that is Fly By Midnight. If one of their songs were to play randomly in the middle of a mall somewhere I would instantly know it, simply based on how it makes me feel and the way it fits their sound. Fly By Midnight is a pop LA based band and they are currently touring their newest album The Fastest Time Of Our Lives.
Last week, Fly By Midnight returned to Austin, TX playing at the iconic venue Antone’s Nightclub. Laure Elle opened the night with high energy and loads of crowd engagement. Her upbeat and relatable songs had the whole front row jumping and singing along by the end of her set! She set the perfect transition for Fly By Midnight to take the stage.
The setlist featured a handful of their new songs like “SuperFine,” “Running,” and “Casablanca,” but what seemed like the most anticipated songs of the night were some of their classics like “Love Me Like A Friend,” “Automatic,” and “North.” During these songs specifically you could undoubtedly feel the collective “this is what life’s all about” feeling floating throughout the venue.
This was my first time seeing the band live after listening to them for years and I can confidently say they are a band that sounds even better live and that I will be seeing again and again! For those of you who haven’t seen them yet and want to experience their magic, they are just getting started! Fly By Midnight is continuing their North American Tour of The Fastest Time Of Our Lives until the end of October! Starting September 29th they will be introducing a new opener called Moontower as well. You can find the rest of their tour dates on their official website.
