“There’s never gonna be a day where you know what’s going to happen tomorrow”. This quote is just a glimpse into what you could learn at a Steinza show. Fans in Detroit made their way to the Lager House on Thursday to catch a set full of acoustic guitar, deep-cutting lyrics, and lots of sips. The Nashville based artist, Steinza, set out on a nationwide tour following the release of his debut album, Steinza was Here!, along with openers Wormy, and Elias Hix.

Opener: Wormy

The first set of the night was Wormy. Turning the moments in between songs into a comedy set, fans laughed along and bobbed their heads to the tunes being sung. Up next was Elias Hix. The fiddle and upright bass were the perfect addition to his collection of folksy, singer-songwriter songs being performed.

Opener: Elias His

As soon as Steinza walked out on stage, fans were eager to feel something that night. With songs like “Bubba” and one of my favorites from him “Work of God”, the crowd was quietly singing every word. This was my second time I was lucky enough to see Steinza live, the first being almost exactly two years ago while opening for Saint Motel, and each time I left feeling such a sense of community. Zach’s storytelling and advice sessions in between songs in the set, and his tradition of making the crowd chant “sipppp” whenever he takes a sip of water, engages the crowd in such an intimate way. Closing out the night was his most well known song, “The Former”, leaving the fans, myself included, wanting more.

If you are a fan of folk, indie, or alt-pop music in any capacity, I highly recommend checking out Steinza if you haven’t already. He is currently on his second half of his tour, so get your tickets before it’s too late!
