Seventeen at the Moody Center

The K-pop group Seventeen is currently on their world tour and scheduled not one, but two nights at the Moody Center in Austin, TX. Seventeen is a K-pop group made up of 13 members: Woozi, S. Coups, Mingyu, Jun, Seungkwan, DK, The8, Joshua Hong, Yoon Jeonghan, Dino, Vernon, Wonwoo, and Hoshi. However, only nine members were present during this tour, as Woozi, Hoshi, Wonwoo, and Yoon Jeonghan were out due to their mandatory military service in Korea.
The show lasted roughly three hours, and with that being said, it still astounds me how energetic they were throughout the whole thing. The atmosphere of the whole stadium was so fun; everyone was dressed up in costumes or in attire that matched Seventeen’s album/shows (a large number of fans at Austin night 2 had seen them the day before for night 1). They started the night off with an instrumental mix of their song Bad Influence which was immediately transitioned into two songs off their newest album HAPPY BURSTDAY, including their hit song “THUNDER”.
Seventeen’s discography is vast, as they have now been a group for ten years. With this being said, they played many of their hit songs, such as “Love, Money, Fame” and “HOT,” along with deep cuts like “Shadow” and “Ready To Love.” Seventeen then “closed the show” with “Rock With You,” which was followed by a lengthy encore including lots of fan interactions/Carat time (Carats are what their fanbase is called), farewells from the members, and more music. After many “yee-haws” and “thank you’s,” Seventeen concluded the show with their hit song “Very Nice” and left everyone feeling sad that it was over but excited for them to return!
Many fans during and after the show were handing out “freebies” , continuing the excitement a little bit longer. These ‘freebies’ would include items such as different members’ photocards, stickers, pins, bracelets, and more. This is a common tradition in the K-pop community, and it never fails to amaze me how fans take the time to create and share these with others. Every Carat I spoke to was so kind and inclusive. Seventeen has an “aju nice” fanbase!
Huge thank you to their team for letting me attend their last show in Austin, giving me the chance to tell you all how fun Seventeen is! Austin can’t wait to have y’all back!
