Fans lined up for hours to catch a brilliant spot for Ruel at Buckhead Theatre. The Australian singer just released his new album “Kicking My Feet.” This album follows him being swept off his feet and being honest with himself. It’s an energetic and passionate new era, and everyone was eager to hear his album live.
Opener: Arthur Hill, Photographed by Hannah PenaThe opening act, Arthur Hill, came on right at 8pm. The London singer played some of his tracks, such as “John Wayne,” and an unreleased song “Working On It.” His music was super fun and energetic. Arthur also took a fan's cowboy hat on stage and signed it. His fun dance moves and 80s-inspired music were a great start to the night.
At 9pm the lights turned off, and the intro to “Only Ever” began. Ruel walked out of the red door in the middle of the stage, and screams erupted. He rocked an all-black look, with leather pants, a wife-beater tank, and a black button-down top. His set was a mix of his new album and some oldies like “Dazed and Confused” and “Younger.” Ruel’s angelic voice echoed throughout the 1,800-capacity venue. There was an acoustic set where he played “No News Is Good News” and “Angels.” Fans held onto each other and had a moment to take it all in.
