As I walked up to the Boeing Center at Tech Port in San Antonio to see Of Monsters and Men, there was an immeasurable amount of nostalgia that filled the atmosphere. The best way I can describe it is that you could genuinely see and feel the passage of time. I’m sure many of you, myself included, grew up with a few of their songs being played just often enough to have them become staple melodies of your childhood. On October 4th, 2026, I had the pleasure of not only getting to finally see a live performance by them but also photographing Of Monsters And Men, and I will never forget it! Of Monsters And Men is the Icelandic rock band responsible for the iconic songs “Little Talks”, “King And Lionheart”, and “Dirty Paws”. They are currently touring their newest album All Is Love And Pain In The Mouse Parade that came out in October of last year!
After a beautiful acoustic set performed by August Ponthier, an indie singer-songwriter from Texas and Anaka Grace accompanying her on guitar, I could feel the crowd amping up for Of Monsters And Men! The crowd at this show was so full of energy and communication! Many shouts of exaltation throughout the night, paired with many cheers. There was dancing, twirling, hugging, and raised glasses, all of which amplified the nostalgic feeling in the room!
This show felt like visiting an old friend while simultaneously also greeting a new one. The feeling of stepping into something new and feeling confident enough to finally do it. You could even describe it as simply being a monumental moment. With this being said, in a way it actually was. This was Of Monsters And Men’s first time in San Antonio! And what an honor it was to have them!
Of Monsters And Men have currently been on tour since July of this year and will be concluding this tour on December 5th at the Veltrac Music Festival in Lima, Peru.
Huge thanks to their team for letting me come out and cover this iconic show for Sound Stage, forever grateful!
Feeling a little nostalgic or like you wanna twirl around and let go a little? Don’t be afraid to dive back into Of Monster’s and Men’s discography!
