Laid Back Country Picker at Southgate House Revival

Through a gate, down an alley, and inside a nondescript old church, you’ll find The Southgate House Revival, a venue opened in 2012 and cultivating incredible shows and experiences since. They take pride in booking local acts and talents beyond what you would ever believe, and in this instance, I’m referring to Laid Back Country Picker and his partner Honey.
The second they hit the stage the energy in the room came to life like nothing I’ve ever seen. Chairs shoved aside, tables knocked astray, canes and walkers thrown down and forgotten, all in a rush to get as close to the stage as possible. Honey kicks it off on the drums, stoic and unwavering, her hair set high in rollers with her signature sunglasses set upon her face.
As the beat started, out on the stage walked Laid Back Country Picker. A presence. A force. A man who knows his talents, knows his sound and knows exactly what he’s there to do. As a self-proclaimed huge fan of country and rock, and a concert goer of many years, this is one of the best shows I’ve ever seen. The second they started playing I was overtaken by the urge to move, to dance, all I could feel was the music filling my body. From main hits like Lb’s Truth/Civillian Vic and Magoffin County Cadillac, to lesser-known gold like Bela Lugosi’s Dead, every song is a testimony to true talent and Kentucky-born artistry.
